EBENORAMA, the German plans

History briefing
20-25 minutes of a military style briefing during which you will learn all the details about the German secret plans. Discover why Eben-Emael is an important page of European history.
Reconstituted underground barracks
Dozens of moments in the fort’s daily life have been reconstituted. More than 25 rooms entirely equipped with original fournitures and more than 75 mannequins. You will discover the kitchen, the bedrooms, the hospital, the hairdresser, the showers, and much more … as they were originally. More than 75 mannequins and special sound effects reconstitute the daily life in this surprising city.
Guided tour at the intermediate level
Follow the guide through 4 km of underground maze located at 3 different levels (60-30-5 meters under ground). The different tunnels will guide you towards strategic node.
Orientation walk outside
A 75ha of protected nature area full of green plants, trees, mushrooms, and flowers to relax and enjoy great views. More than half of the territory consists of woods and is part of the St Pieters mountain protected park. Ideal for a healthy orientation walk. We recommend good walking shoes and waterproof in case of wed weather.
Aeration system
Bringing fresh air, 60 meters under ground for more than 1000 people was a real challenge.
Commander post
Six rooms located in the heart of the fort where all critical decision were taken: telephone exchanges, radio-room, offices for fire directions and commander office.
Defense bunkers: Bloc 1, Bloc 5, Canal North
The defense bunkers constitute the second battery of the fort. They were all equipped with diversified weapons: the best anti-armour guns known at that time (60mm), reversible machine guns, searchlights, observationcupolas.
Artillery bunkers : Maastricht 1, Visé 1, Visé 2
Directed either to the north or south directions, they cover all critical targets in a circle of 11km around the fort.
Artillery coupolas : Coup 120, Coup North, Coup South Discover the heavy metal shells of the fort. Impressive machineries that allow the coupolas to turn 360° around. All weapons are still original.
